Training on Bioenergy, Biorefinery and Energy Efficiency

The lecturer of Faculty of Forestry, Fifi Gus Dwiyanti, PhD attended a seminar Bioenergy, Biorefinery and Energy Efficiency. As IPB has committed to develop new and renewable energy in order to support energy diversification in Indonesia, it is expected that food experts from IPB can take the roll in this seminar. IPB along with other Centres of Collaborative Research (CCR), which one of them is Centre for Development of Sustainable Region (CDSR) coordinated by Gadjah Mada University, is working under USAID – Sustainable Higher Education Research Alliances (USAID SHERA) project. In order to realise the project’s commitment in developing new and renewable energy, the seminar “Training on Bioenergy, Biorefinery and Energy Efficiency” was held in IPB International Convention Centre from 4th until 6th of April

The seminar was held for three days where at the first day (4th of April), the Dean of Faculty of Forestry, Dr. Rinekso Soekmadi, gave the opening speech and the following session about Biorefinery and Microalgae was delivered by Ganjar Safurahma, M.Phil. The next day (5th of April), Dr. Hendhata Agusta delivered a presentation on Life Cycle Assessment and the Practice of Life Cycle Assessment. There were also Ir. F. X. Sutijastoto, MA who delivered his presentation about Renewable Energy Policy. Right before closing, Dr. Moon from PT. Korin Tiga Hutani delivered his presentation about Forest Biomass.

The seminar also included training activities, which were training on biorefinery and microalgae, information science, renewable energy policy, forest biomass and energy efficiency. Field trip to places to PT. SWEN IT in Ciomas, Bogor also came on the package so the participants could witness the renewable energy practice in Indonesia.

By gathering energy and forestry experts as well as the stakeholders of industries in one place, the event is expected to provide the participants with insights on the road-map of biorefinery and microalgae research, to initiate research collaboration between the participants on forest biomass as the profitable renewable energy and to develop the research network among participants.
